Halifax, Nova Scotia

Tuesday 10th October

The weather has been better than we could have expected on this trip, another glorious day today. 4 cruise ships in port today so a little busy.

We didn’t have a trip booked today.  We walked along the waterfront. It is one of the worlds longest urban boardwalks spanning 2.5 miles from pier 21 to the casino downtown. We were docked at pier 22.  The boardwalk has plenty of shops, restaurants, bike hire and boat trips to enjoy. When we set off hardly anything was open however by the time we were walking back the majority had opened. We stopped browsed the shops and stalls, I bought some pretty handmade brooches to remind me of our trip. We then stopped part way for a light lunch and a drink. We sat out in the sun and enjoyed the crab fritters and special breads with maple butter whilst people watching. Some interesting structures and sculptures along the way, one of them called Rise Again. It is supposed to be a structure ascending like a vessel from the sea rising two stories above the ground. It need to look at the side profile to see that. The roof is wide steps leading to the peak which gives a good view over the harbour front. The space under the roof facing the waterfront is designated restaurant space.

I am always attracted to anything relating to cows so we paid a visit to the cows creamery shop on the boardwalk. I bought a tub of crisps covered in chocolate to sample. I was thinking this is wrong on all levels however they were tasty and I enjoyed them

We had a pleasant walk back in the sun, enjoying all the aspects of the boardwalk

We had good reports from others who had been on organised tours today out to Peggy’s cove and the local area and to the shopping malls.
