Olden, Norway
Port day 3. The sail down the fjord was spectacular. Breakfast on the balcony again to ensure we didn’t miss any of the fantastic scenery. We docked on the edge of the village. Considering this place has massive cruise shops docking it is unspoilt with very few shops, pubs or cafes. It’s all about the scenery.
We did another road train trip around the lakes and through the hamlets, this mode of transport is ideal for these small tracks, we wouldn’t have got down them on a coach or a hop on hop off bus.
We stopped off in the village for a wonder around the very few shops and to look for a Christmas bauble to add to our Christmas travel tree collection. Paul bought a waterproof coat in a sale and I bought some Norwegian chocolate to sample. We visited a local cafe for a couple of flat whites and enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine enjoying our drinks. I waited for the land train back to port whilst Paul walked back to get his steps in for the day.
We were treated to a great send off from the pub at the dock, they blasted out Rod Stewart’s “we are sailing” and waved flags whilst we sailed away. We had a prime viewing spot on our balcony, very emotional that the locals do this for the cruise ships loved it and a port I will never forget
