Gravdal, Lofoten Islands
Port day 7. Todays stop is an Archipelago just north of the crossing into the artic circle. it feels like the middle of nowhere. The time docked was reduced as the captain had to alter course as the ship was too big to fit down the planned route.
Although the views are lovely, the ship had to dock at sea and tender passengers into land using the lifeboats. The weather conditions were cold and misty. The captain advised if you were going ashore you should wrap up warm and take wet weather wear as there is no protection at the dock whilst waiting for tenders back to the ship.
Paul went ashore to explore whilst I stayed on board and did laundry and read my book. By all accounts I didn’t miss a lot, due to time constraints it was a quick trip to town on the Princess shuttle bus.
During dinner the captain made an announcement that due to the number of covid cases on board masks were now being made compulsory. Covid corridor was the other side of deck 9 from our room. About 5 minutes later a further announcement that we would be delayed leaving as we had a medical emergency on board, the patient needed to be tendered off the ship and taken to hospital by ambulance. The captain sounded fed up at this point.
