Alesund, Norway
Port 8 Alesund.
Norway is the land that keeps on giving. Just when you think it can’t get any better you arrive at Alesund. Absolutely beautiful place so pretty, Oh and they have heated benches in town! Loved them.
It was the hop on hop off bus for us. The bus trip up the mountain on a single trip road where we had to reverse round bends to let traffic pass I didn’t love it, I was scared to death 🤣. Fabulous views. If you are fit (not me) you could walk up the 417 steps to the top of the mountain.
The town is built around a harbour, very walkable and a good choice of shops, cafes and restaurants. The Main Street is pedestrianised with many places having outdoor seating, we indulged in a good quality flat whites and a couple of cakes, the downside, we thought we would try Norwegian bakery items however turns out the place we stopped at was Italian, the Cannoli was delicious.
Later whilst Paul was photographing the beautiful buildings, I sat on a recently vacated iron bench seat which I thought was warm from the previous occupier however the warmth soon spread up my back. I realised I was actually sat on a heated bench and I had chocolate for mum in my bag. Luckily it hadn’t melted.
