Sea Days 21 to Day 25

Friday 14th Oct to Tuesday 18th October

It’s now the big sail across the ocean back to Southampton, the sea was choppy most days, we enjoyed watching the activities on offer from the cruise staff. The cruise long passenger Olympics where you could get involved in things like table tennis, corn hole, putting competitions together with demonstrations by the food and beverage team.

We took this time to catch a movie, chill out, get the laundry done and sit around chatting to friends. The time changes each night meant we lost an hour a day nearly every day. We played in the casino and cashed out our room credit and our winnings.

We sampled more cocktails particularly enjoying a Milky Way martini made from Kahula, vanilla vodka and Baileys.

On Monday teatime the Bridge announced that we had some medical emergencies that required hospital treatment on board and all options had been considered. It was too dangerous with the weather to do a helicopter evacuation so with the Princess Land team it had been decided that we would go at full speed and get to Southampton on Tuesday rather than Wednesday. The said we had been going this speed since lunchtime so would arrive in Southampton around 9.30pm. They would offload the passengers requiring emergency treatment and everyone else would disembark as normal on Wednesday.

We did get to Southampton around the planned time, the emergencies were off loaded and we all disembarked in an efficient manner on Wednesday morning. This was a completely different experience from what we had on our Norway cruise in the summer. CPS the company we had used for long term parking of our car were as efficient as usual, our car was waiting and we were on the road home by 7.40am.

Another successful holiday, we met some fabulous people in the USA and Canada, the locals were all friendly saw some stunning scenery, met new friends on the ship and enjoyed the Atlantic Ocean crossings. We particularly enjoyed doing different things in New York than we have done before and the trip confirmed a road trip in New England is being added to the bucket list.
