Saint John, New Brunswick
Sunday 2nd October
An additional port stop here today, we are back here on 10th Oct. This is one of the changes due to the Hurricane.
First off it’s watching the Manchester derby match before we get off the ship for a stroll around. The hop on hop off buses are parked up in port, they are pink here. Part of the ticket price is donated to breast cancer, they even lay out the pink carpet for you
It’s Sunday so not a lot is open however we follow a walking trail around the town and go into local City market hall which sells everything from McVities chocolate biscuits to photographs of the local area. We carry on walking the trail and meet a local who stops to chat and tells us there is a farmers market further along the street and he is off to buy his Carrots there, all very random.
Very interesting buildings in this part of town, the old with the new. A quick scoot round the farmers market and then off in the direction of the ship where there is a big shipping container park. The containers are colourful and converted into shops and eateries. We try some beaver tails think donut in the shape of a tail (flat and wide), Paul’s was a classic, sugar and cinnamon whilst I had a hotdog in mine, the hotdog was the best bit. 😂
A Piper played the ship goodbye, see you again on the 10th. St John
We’re starting to get into a routine now, pre dinner drinks in Vines at 6pm for Prosecco for me and Midori sour for Paul and a social with our new “bar friends”. After dinner is usually the casino for half an hour or so then either a show in the theatre, quizzes, game show or Karaoke in Princess live, where we catch up with more new friends and then maybe finish the evening off in the vista lounge.
The sunset tonight was fabulous, the sky looking like it had been painted with a brush.
Tonight was another show “New York or Nowhere” songs and story by Therin Morrisey one of the cruise staff. She has a great voice.
