Sea days -Day 2 to Day 6

Sunday 25th Sept to Thursday 29th Sept.

The days all merge into one, it’s been a round of quizzes, game shows, craft classes (me), gym for Paul, paper plane throwing, martini making demonstration and presentations. We have Sue holdness (Marlene from Only Fools and horses)on board, giving talks, presentations and Q&A’s. She is really engaging. Plenty of activities to get involved in during the day. The evenings have been about, food, drink the casino, shows, bands and the piano bar. I’m not sure we can keep this pace up for 25 nights 😂

I’ve always believed that you learn something new everyday, some of the things I have learnt so far:

- Birds are very clever, a little bird joined the back of the ship in Southampton and has had a lift part across the ocean, disappearing for a fly round then coming back although we haven’t seen him the last couple of days

- The cost to rent the country Liechtenstein for a day is £53,000. Not sure what you get for the money, thus was an answer in a numbers game show.

- We’re better at ABBA name that tune than we thought, we got 17/20. It’s a common score for us as we scored the same on the airplane tails trivia.

- When you walk into the TV hung on the wall in the middle of the night,it really hurts your shoulder 😂

Amazingly it hasn’t been too rocky, I think we have experienced worst seas on previous cruises crossing the Bay of Biscay or coming out the port of Miami. The worst weather we have had was the dense fog for 2 nights which resulted in the ships horn blasting every 2 minutes. The food has been really good so far, plenty of choice.

We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary on the 29th, the crew made us feel special with the cabin steward creating a wedding cake out of towels, the staff in the dining room presenting us with a cake with a candle and singing Happy Anniversary to the tune of Happy Birthday and the information screens in the public areas displaying a personalised anniversary message when we walked past, impressive.

During the sea days the captain announced that due to Hurricane Fiona the itinerary would be changing slightly as some ports were damaged and couldn’t accommodate cruise passengers. We were to miss Charlottetown and Sydney Nova Scotia, they would be replaced with an additional stop in Saint John, New Brunswick. Making it 2 visits during this voyage. We will arrive a day early in New York making it 3 days there instead of 2.
